EPA 608 Score Reporting: When and How Results Arrive
Online proctored exams (ESCO, Mainstream Engineering, SkillCat):
Results are displayed immediately after you click Submit. The score report shows:
- Number correct per section (e.g., "22 of 25 — Type II")
- Pass/Fail status per section
- A printable score report or pass sheet (for sections you passed)
Save or print the score report before closing the session. Some platforms generate a PDF that is emailed to your registered address — verify receipt while still in the testing environment.
Paper-based exams at wholesale locations:
The completed exam is mailed to the certifying organization for grading. Results arrive approximately 2–4 weeks after your exam date. The certifying organization mails the results directly to the address on your registration.

EPA 608 Exam — What Happens If You Fail a Section
Sections are independent. Failing one section does not void the others.
- If you fail one section: The sections you passed are retained. You retake only the failed section at the provider's per-section retake fee ($10–$30 at most providers). Most providers allow retake scheduling within days of the original exam.
- If you fail multiple sections: Pay the per-section retake fee for each failed section. Schedule retakes individually or together depending on the provider's testing schedule.
- If you fail all sections: The same retake process applies. No waiting period is required at most providers — you can reschedule the same day if testing slots are available.
Universal certification is awarded when all four sections are passed — Core, Type I, Type II, and Type III. Individual section passes accumulate across sessions; you do not need to pass all four in a single sitting. EPA 608 Certification — What Each Section Authorizes
Your EPA 608 certification authorizes work on specific equipment categories based on which sections you passed:
