This Privacy Policy describes how EPA 608 Practice Test ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at epa608practicetest.net (the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully.

Short Version: Most of the Service requires no account. Your test history is stored locally in your browser — we don't see it. If you purchase Pro Lifetime access, your email is collected for account verification and your payment is processed by Paddle (we never see your card details). We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.

1. Who We Are

EPA 608 Practice Test is an independent educational platform for HVAC technicians and students preparing for the EPA Section 608 certification exam. We are not affiliated with the Environmental Protection Agency, ESCO Institute, Mainstream Engineering, or any government body.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored Locally in Your Browser (Free Users)

The Free tier requires no account and no login. Test results, progress history, quiz scores, and preferences are saved only in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser's storage permanently deletes all of it.

2.2 Information You Provide Voluntarily

Contact form: If you contact us via our contact form, we collect your name and email address. This is used only to respond to your inquiry.
Notify / waitlist form: If you submit your email on the pricing page to receive launch notifications, we store that email to send you the notification you requested.
Pro Lifetime purchase: When you purchase Pro access, Paddle collects your email, name, and payment information. We receive your email address from Paddle to verify and activate your Pro access. We do not receive your card number, billing address, or other payment details.

2.3 Usage Data (Automatically Collected)

When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain technical information through Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics, including:

Pages visited and time spent on each page
Browser type, operating system, and device type
Country-level location (not precise geolocation)
Referring website or search query
Events such as completing a practice test or clicking a button

This data is aggregated and used to understand how the Service is used and improve it. It is not used to identify individual users.

3. Payment Data and Paddle

All payments for Pro Lifetime access are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), who acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions.

            We never see your payment card details. When you check out, you are interacting directly with Paddle's secure payment interface. Paddle collects your card number, billing address, and related payment information. We receive only your email address and order confirmation from Paddle to activate your Pro access.
        

Paddle is independently PCI DSS compliant and handles all payment security. Paddle's Privacy Policy governs the handling of your payment information: paddle.com/legal/privacy

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use the following types of storage and tracking:

localStorage (Browser-Side Only)

Used to save your test history, scores, settings, and Pro status on your own device. This data never leaves your browser. You can clear it at any time via your browser's settings.

Analytics Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to track aggregate usage patterns (page views, session length, events). These cookies do not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.

Payment Cookies (Checkout Only)

When you proceed to checkout, Paddle's payment iframe sets cookies necessary for the secure payment process. These are limited to the checkout session.

No Advertising Cookies

We do not display third-party advertising on this site. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or tracking networks for advertising purposes.

7. Data Retention

Browser-stored data: Retained until you clear your browser storage. We have no control over or access to this data.
Pro account email: Retained for the life of your Pro account. Deleted upon account closure request.
Contact / notify emails: Retained until request is fulfilled or you ask us to delete them.
Analytics data: Aggregated and retained per Google Analytics' standard retention settings (26 months by default). Individual session data is anonymized.
Payment records: Retained by Paddle per their legal and financial obligations (typically 7 years for tax compliance).

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR:

Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell your personal information. No opt-out is needed.
Right to non-discrimination: You will not receive different service for exercising your privacy rights

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 16 years of age (13 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact privacy@epa608practicetest.net.

11. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure:

All connections to the Service use HTTPS (TLS 1.2+)
Payment data is handled exclusively by Paddle and never transmitted to or stored on our servers
Access to any collected personal data is limited to those who need it to provide the Service

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes affecting how we use personal data, we will provide notice via email (for Pro users) or a prominent site notice. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
